Invest only in yourself. Do not invest into others more than you invest in yourself.
It's as the saying goes "If you don't give yourself credit, then who will?"
After he told me this, to not invest into the relationship and to just focus on my own needs, wants, and desires, something on the inside changed. Suddenly, it's like I didn't care how he was going to get home if he was drunk. Somehow, I started not caring.
Maybe it'll be short-lived. But, no matter how long it lasts, I think something is different now.
